Centennial Security Integration Provides Major Security
Upgrade for the NYC Housing Authority, helping
to Protect the Woodson Houses

(Port Washington, NY) 12 OCT 2021 - Over the last year, Centennial Security Integration (CSI) has been a proud partner in the revitalization of several New York City's neighborhoods. Most recently, CSI championed the security upgrades for the seniors living in the Carter G. Woodson Houses, a 400-plus set of densely populated high-rise apartment towers. The Woodson Houses, completed in 1970, had been in the news over the past several years, as the residents sought an increased security presence after numerous crimes had taken place there. The towers are located in Brownsville, a section of Brooklyn which has consistently held one of the highest poverty and crime rates of any neighborhood in New York City.

Through a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) contract, Centennial Security Integration was able to provide new security infrastructure for detecting and deterring crimes, and if crimes were committed—capturing evidence. This included new ultra high-resolution I.P. cameras in the elevators, hallways, and staircases, to new video recording servers, associated network infrastructure, cabling, conduit, and video management systems. The new cameras are able to be federated with local law enforcement, providing a technology force multiplier that supports crime prevention.

Initiated in April 2021, the CSI Project Management team successfully completed this project within the time allocated by NYCHA. This project was in-line with the Housing Authority’s “Blueprint for Change: Transformation Plan” that the City of New York released in early 2021. This plan outlines goals for increasing security technology among the NYCHA properties, by funding—which in part, originated from a federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant for emergency safety and security upgrades.
