Estimator / Engineer (Low Voltage Security Industry)

 

This position is for a professional Estimator/Engineer in the low voltage electronic security field. Our company works on projects integrating security hardware including: IP surveillance cameras, access control, video management, etc., for major clients in and around New York City. The Estimator/Engineer works closely with Project Managers to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work on a specific project. This position is responsible for creating quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, conducting walk-throughs, and other responsibilities, such as:

 

• Ability to perform on-site surveys for new or existing IP Video, access control, intercom, burg, network using survey software and/or survey templates

• Ability to read/understand/comprehend bid documents, packages, drawings, blueprints, & perform specification review and take-offs

• Create system design and bill of materials

• Fundamental understanding of fire, electrical and building codes

• Work with distributors and reps to generate pricing for bid opportunities

• Work with sales teams to successful produce proposals and bids

• Provide tech support and mentorship to field techs and end users

• Work with operations to identify discrepancies between engineering and installation

• Understand IP video, access control, intercoms, relay logic, etc.

 

Experience needed:

 

• Required: Minimum 5 years verifiable work experience in estimating/engineering

• Required: Excellent communication skills

• Required: Proficiency in AutoCad / MS Visio

• Required: Microsoft Office experience

• Preferred: Experience with industry vendors & products such as: S2, Exacq, Genetec, Milestone, Feenics, Software House, Lenel, ONSSI, and Avigilon

• Preferred: College degree in a STEM field
